Comenius Regio Partnerships
The Slovenian National Institute of Education strongly supports our ideas and is willing to
enrol at the Comenius Regio Project on our behalf. We decided to challenge our students for
the creative work (age 15 – 18) particularly in Science, Art, Social Studies and languages
which would give them several opportunities to develop and realize their interests and
desires as well as enable them to evoke their own potentials through creative work.
The kind of work that we propose would definitely encourage individual work based on
creativity, develop personal skills and strengthen self-awareness of teachers and students,
which would be provided by teacher mobility, intensive work in international teams and
sharing good practice.

Proposal for Comenius Regio Partnership
Project Details
To target vulnerable families in a group of primary schools, who have difficulties both socio
economically and socially, and provide Family Learning opportunities for these families. To
share existing good practice in both regions which will support these families. To monitor
and develop this intervention strategy and evaluate its impact upon pupil progress and
attitude in the partner regions at the end of the two year programme.

Comenius School Partnerships
Our school is the secondary school in Mažeikiai, Lithuiania. The students are of different
ages: from 6 to 19 years old. There are about 700 students and 70 teachers this year. We
haven’t taken part in such projects so far. But we are very enthusiastic in trying. We bare
looking for partners within the Comenius partnership framework, we’d be pleased to join
your project or maybe you will like some ideas from our proposal presented below:
The main areas of working would be the students with different needs, including either the
most gifted students, the students with some different types of disabilities or the students
with social problems.
Our ideas to realize the project are as follows:
-every participating school prepares performances about traditional feasts, holidays,
including songs, dances, games, dishes, costumes, national traditions;
- the students and teachers of each team present their traditions ( songs, cooking
technology, dances, traditional games) to other participants;
-each team produces the teaching material on the methods of creating motivation working
with the students of special needs which could be used in these schools (with a common
copyright);
-the meetings at local schools should be arranged (providing the participations of students
from each country). The meetings should be agreed about the time, countries and number
of students and teachers;
-presentations such as cooking methods, traditions should be performed in English
-the product of the project ought to be a small bilingual dictionary recorded on CD(everyday
phrases and the most useful words, some examples of proverbs or idioms should be
translated into English and languages of all participating countries; the soundtrack and video
should be recorded if possible, for example, each participant records the soundtrack in
mother tongue, the performance of traditional dance and song, pictures of traditional dishes,
costumes, famous landmarks, etc.).
We are open to any other ideas and suggestions.

Wir suchen Partner für ein Comenius – Projekt, das wir zusammen mit einer deutschen
Schule vorbereitet haben. Wir haben eigentlich ein fertiges Projekt, aber unser italienischer
Partner ist abgesprungen und die Zeit drängt. Projekt – Sprachen sind Englisch und/ oder
Deutsch.
Das ist eine kurze Beschreibung unseres Projekts:
Das Projekt, an dem unsere Schule teilnehmen will, befasst sich mit der Architektur und
Religion. Uns interessiert die Entwicklung der eigenen kulturellen Identität durch die
intensive Auseinandersetzung mit den verschiedenen religiösen Gruppen, die in
verschiedenen europäischen Regionen neben- bzw. miteinander leben. Wir wollen
Gemeinsamkeiten der verschiedenen religiösen und nationalen Traditionen entwickeln.Die
Schüler aller beteiligten Partnerschulen befassen sich mit verschiedenen Formen religiöser
Kunst und sakraler Architektur und erarbeiten eine Ausstellung zur Präsentation
gemeinsamer Ergebnisse.

Projektzusammenfassung
Problem / Motivation

Welches Problem wird durch das vorgeschlagene Problem gelöst / gemildert? Warum sollte
dieses Problem jetzt und hier bekämpft werden?
Dass unsere Gesellschaft in der heutigen Form nicht zukunftsfähig ist, lässt sich an Berichten
über Klimawandel, Energieversorgung und Ressourcenverbrauch sowie an der momentanen
Wirtschaftslage ablesen. Die Idee der Nachhaltigkeit hingegen ist eine Entwicklung, die die
Bedürfnisse der heutigen Generationen befriedigt ohne die Bedürfnisbefriedigung künftiger
Generationen zu beeinträchtigen. Sie verbindet Lösungsansätze für bestehende Probleme
sowohl im ökologischen als auch im sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Bereich.
Um einen entsprechenden Wandel in unserer Gesellschaft zu fördern, ist es wichtig, bereits
bei Kindern ein entsprechendes Bewusstsein zu schaffen. Sie werden zum einen die
GestalterInnen unserer zukünftigen Gesellschaft sein, und zum anderen die Auswirkungen
unseres momentanen Handelns am stärksten spüren. Kindern muss die Möglichkeit gegeben
werden, sich für einen zukunftsfähigen Lebensstil entscheiden zu können.

Harriet Gill is the International Officer at Brighton & Hove City Council.
Brighton & Hove is a unitary authority area and city on the south coast of England and the
Council is currently looking for a European partner to work with in the development of an
exciting new Comenius Regio Partnership.
Objectives;
To encourage a positive sense of identity in all young people at Longhill School and improve
community cohesion,
To reduce numbers of racist and religiously motivated incidents in school and the local
community.
Strategies for achieving objectives;
Improve and strengthen school and youth service relationships with local communities with
a focus on communities in areas of social deprivation,
Develop innovative approaches to exploring and challenging racisms in young people and
their families with a particular focus on Islamophobia,
Develop capacity of the school and local community to respond to racisms including
Islamophobia,
Develop systems for identifying and supporting young people at risk of being targets of or
perpetrators of racism and extremism.

Comenius Regio Project
“Efficient Reading and Learning”

Abstract:
Two European regions (Lower Austria and ...............) analyse , discuss and document (field
studies) questions related to the reading competence of children between 6 and 15 in their
regions.
Furthermore, based on this sound investigation the two partners design models of good
practice (eg big books, book reviews) which they will test, adapt and eventually implent in
their regions.
The topic is of interest for both regions as the level of reading of pupils within the EU is
definitely not growing in some cases even slightly diminishing according to European
documents.
The focus will be on questions related to motivation, the role of modern media, learning and
reading stategies, gender sensitive texts, reading in all subjects and links between reading
skills in L1 and L2.
The close relationship between reading and efficient and better learning will be investigated.
The partnership is varied and offers a promising mix of school boards, practicioners and
researchers.
