JOB ADVERTISEMENT – ACCM Assistant

SCI employ approximately 25,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 100 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection. CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

This role is critical for our community engagement and to ensure that affected communities understand our services and activities. ACCM Assistant is contributing to implementation of communications strategy and is responsible for the active presence of Save the Children Türkiye across digital platforms and social media. The post holder will also work on development graphic design materials. ACCM Assistant will produce high quality multimedia content, including video, photographs, and produce graphic design in support of the country advocacy and program strategy on the humanitarian situation in Türkiye. The ACCM Assistant will produce content to be used in all Save the Children media, social media channels, fundraising campaigns, websites, mobile app etc.

Working closely with child safeguarding and child protection colleagues, ensure that all children involved in our communications, advocacy, and media work are protected from potential mental and physical harm, and potential repercussions from their involvement in our communications, advocacy, and media work.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The ACCM Assistant supports the ACCM Specialist and works closely with program teams to implement activities aligned with communications, advocacy, and campaign strategies, as well as media engagement plans and digital and social media strategies.

Reports to: I&I Director

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Assist in Save the Children Türkiye Country Office (TCO) campaign efforts through raising public awareness on the education, humanitarian needs, displacement and other pressing issues facing children post-earthquake in Türkiye through the implementation of social media activities, while providing input to the production of digital materials.
  • Contribute to the development of clear and consistent information and communications outputs that reflect children’s situation and Save the Children’s work in Türkiye (e.g. supporting the production/writing of personal stories, short videos, photos, graphics and illustrations).
  • Assist and produce creative, audience-focused written content for media and donor materials, ensuring compelling narratives and compliance with donor and SCI standards.
  • Help in collecting information from technical teams and translating it into engaging content; support basic editing of videos and preparation of photo stories, writing engaging human interest stories.
  • Support the preparation of communications and multimedia materials for use across Save the Children International, ensuring they align with internal guidance and quality standards.
  • Contribute to graphic design layout and formatting for print and digital materials, with support from relevant technical experts or external providers when needed.
  • Assist in the development and scheduling of social media activities, including basic analytics monitoring to inform improvements and support KPI achievement.
  • Use social media platforms for information dissemination, outreach and promotion of activities while enhancing the acceptance of SCI TCO across the country with our targeted audiences.
  • Assist in the identification and engagement of influencers and content creators for visibility opportunities, in coordination with the ACCM team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from different departments by supporting the collection and presentation of program evidence, good practices and achievements; assist with digital components of project communication needs.
  • Support the coordination and quality review of communication materials developed with partners.
  • Provide administrative and practical support during procurement processes for outsourced services (e.g. production agencies, designers, editors).
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Output expectations:

  • Coordinating the messaging and posts for the social media platforms to ensure affected communities understand how and where to get Save the Children support.
  • Compiling relevant information, helping to create educational materials, checking quality of videos and images, proof-reading, translating and editing of documents, supporting outputs etc.
  • High-quality multimedia content, engaging child-safe narratives and stories.
  • Timely delivery of communication and visibility materials requested by programs, awards, or donors.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, journalism, media, communications or similar discipline.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and editing skills.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written Turkish and English to provide outputs for a wide range of different audiences.
  • One year of professional experience in communications, multimedia, journalism, visual and digital or traditional media or external communications work.
  • Experience working sensitively with vulnerable groups.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and/or video editing software (Adobe Creative Cloud).
  • Experience of using professional DV camera, sound equipment, lighting set ups, SLR cameras and video footage using professional editing software.
  • Can produce accurate, clear and consistent information and communication outputs relating to both program support and humanitarian situation.
  • Proven ability to work with communities and partners to gather content on the humanitarian situation and on programs.
  • Experience and understanding of the situation in Türkiye, including the sensitivities.
  • Substantial experience of working in remote field bases with limited infrastructure.
  • Excellent understanding of international audiences and their varying visual communication needs.
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities.
  • Shows strong willingness and curiosity to learn and develop.
  • High level of spoken and written Arabic is desirable.
  • Prior knowledge of social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social etc. is desirable.
  • Experience or knowledge of working and living in humanitarian contexts is desirable.

Position holder will be based in Istanbul, Hatay, Gaziantep or Adıyaman, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
